The Canna Mom Show went to Vegas in December to attend the Women of Cannabis Conference. Wow! So before introducing today's guest, Nurse Julie Battel of CED Clinic in Brookline, Massachusetts, Amie and Joyce tell what happened in Vegas. They share not just their introductions to amazing women like Hash Queen Mila Jansen , Business Entrepreneur Stormy Simon, and Nichole West (who shared her remarkable story falling into the rabbit hole of cannabis regulations and losing her way), but stories about all the women from across the country who gathered at the powerful event. Then they introduce their guest, Julie Battel, who has a background in public health, obstetrics and was a mid-wife for thirteen-years. When she was diagnosed with an auto immune disease that left her with tremors  she had to pivot professionally and started down the path in cannabis care at CED Clinic in Brookline, Massachusetts with Dr. Benjamin Caplan. Julie shares her own cannabis health story and then explains the process for medical card certification, which can feel intimidating but is really quite easy. The spark of Doreen Sullivan's big idea, a vintage bong business, was lit on the day she was trying to hide a bong from an unexpected visitor. When Doreen placed it on a shelf next to her decorative flower vases she realized they were twins! So in August 2015, Doreen began a six month journey of crafting her product line which culminated on April 20, 2016 (4-20, just to be clear) when she launched her one-of-a kind vintage bong business, My Bud Vase.  Doreen and her daughter, Carson, speak with Amie and Joyce  from their home in South Carolina. They sit down with Madlyne Kelly who, along with her partner Bec Koop, founded Irie Weddings and Events in Denver, Colorado in 2016. Bec and Madlyne both arrived in Denver from the West Coast in 2014 just as cannabis legalization was introduced. The idea for Irie Weddings and Events was sparked when Bec was running a floral business while working at a medical marijuana dispensary. In just five short years Bec's spark of an idea is now a multi-state event business and the first cannabis catering business with liability insurance. Very important! Marie Evan's motto for her mail-order CBD company, Get Colette, is Define Your Shine! Not only is she a powerhouse for her own CBD business, but she is empowering other women owned businesses in the CBD space. Marie's idea to introduce New England women to the potential CBD can have in their lives sprang from a survey she conducted a few years ago, and her own mother's experience using CBD to sleep. As the daughter of a police officer, her personal transition into the legal cannabis world is only the beginning of the cannabis story she shares with Joyce and Amie.
